Hospitality VAT rate remains at 9% until the end of 2022 at a cost of €200 million

The Blue dot Team

The 9% VAT rate for the hospitality sector is to remain in place for the remainder of 2022. The measure, introduced after extensive lobbying from the sector, formed part of the measures introduced by the Fine Gael-Labour coalition and is expected to cost upwards of €200 million.

The Minister for Tourism, Catherine Martin, pushed for the reduced rate to continue supporting the sector in the wake of the pandemic.
